Hi my name is John O'Rourke.

I have been camping with the Scouting organisation since I was 6 and loved every minute under canvas, even when it was cold and wet! I progressed though the Scouting movement from Beavers (6-8 year olds) through Cubs and Scouts into Explorer Scouts and am now a member of Scout Network (18-25 year olds). I very much enjoyed being part of this fun loving outdoor group so much that on joining Network I spent a year helping at a local Scout section.

Each camping experience has taught me something new about myself and posed new challenges requiring a different approach. Every site is unique and the equipment used is subtlety different - even the menu requires thinking about in advance.

With support from my outdoor mad family we founded Kit List Camping in 2010, providing knowledge, training and equipment to help families get the same satisfaction we have from their camping adventures. After leaving college, I worked as an Activity Instructor with two of the leading youth activity holiday companies teaching children team building, rock climbing, archery, pot-holing and orienteering. I also spent a summer teaching RYA sailing courses in the South of France to school groups.
